Hello,

I was out on the water yesterday and checked the oil in the engine before I left and it was fine. after a couple of hours at WOT there was a knock and a squeel and white smoke coming from the carb. I instantly shut off the engine checked the oil and of course it was bone dry. I refilled the engine with oil and it starts but there is a loud metal knock and it runs rough. I realize I broke, bent, burned something in there. Is it as simple as replacing the crank and rob bearings or are there other things that I could have destroyed? Push rods, etc? Its a 3.0 mercruiser. Thanks for any help, im not sure where to start.

Um,

What was the oil pressure while you were running and just before shutdown?

checked the oil and of course it was bone dry.
The engine is "toast"...... remove the drive, remove the engine and haul it to a machine shop for rebuild.

They will determine if you can still use the crank.

Or, get a long block from someone like the following.
