This happened while delivering a electric drive pontoon to a customer. After launching the boat I needed to readjust the transducer as it had been pushed up by the trailer bunks. I couldn't reach it from the dock so I asked the owner to turn around a EASE up to the ramp so I could wade out and fix the transducer. As I wade down the ramp I look up to see the boat going "Mach Oh my god" straight at the bulkhead. I jump up on the bulkhead run over, flop down on my butt ( screaming WHOA the whole time) and stick my legs out, catching and stopping the boat before it plows into the bulk head prop and motor first. Now the prop is still spinning and slinging water everywhere, and as I look up at the owner he says "It don't have brakes". Through gritted teeth I politely ask him to "please turn the motor off". Then I realize that the owner/operator had been leaning over the back of the boat the whole time...Whose driving the boat?! NO-ONE!!! After pulling the boat over to the ramp and JUMPING in the water instead of WADING in, I adjust the transducer and send him on his merry way smiling and waving by-by to my soaking wet a** all the way down the lake. The moral of this story is: Never assume that just because someone owns a boat...they know how to safely operate a boat!!!!!
