no power steering

Hello
1979 24 ft crestliner Mercruiser 228.

Will I damage anything if I drive my boat with out the power steering pump working (belt not on)

I know it handles hard, but it is drivable.

long story but... I need a belt and because of a refit the correct belt doesn't fit so until I fix it I was hoping to drive without power steering.

I wouldn't necessarily consider it safe in a situation where fully functional steering would be necessary to avoid an unfortunate incident, but you won't do it any mechanical harm. Your shoulders and arms are sure going to get a workout however.
