No power to gauges / ignition on Bayliner 185

I rebuilt the carb on my Bayliner 185 4.3. After reinstalling, I go to fire it up and get no power to the gauges or ignition.

The bilge, vent, etc are getting power. The red/purple wire on the keyswitch is NOT getting any power. I tried to follow the wire but that's impossible.

So the battery is putting out power, but the red/purple wire is not getting any of it.

What do I check next? The fuse on the starter solenoid? Is that likely? Would that stop gauge/ignition power, or just stop it from starting?

Thanks!

Did you check all the fuses behind the helm? My 185 is a 2003 model and there are some fuses inside that hinged cushion in front of the helm.

Google bayliner 185 manual. There's pdf file that you can download. It's the manual from bayliner. There are wiring diagrams in there. It's free and It's directly from "baylinerparts"

From the diagram, It looks like a purple wire feeds the ignition switch and the gauge cluster. But the feed first passes through the lanyard safety kill switch. So, make sure your safety lanyard switch is in the closed position. If someone pulled the lanyard, it will create the symptoms you are having.

During the carb rebuild, did you by any chance mess some wiring that would have tripped the breaker in the engine bay. All power to the engine and instruments passes through that breaker. If the main feed to the ignition switch is not seeing power, start at the battery and work forward. When you lose 12 volts you found the problem.

Lanyard is in Run position. The red/purple is the + from the battery and it's not making it to the keyswitch. I don't think it goes through the fuse panel in front, that appears to be for the horn, speakers, etc.

There was only one plug that required disconnection/reconnection. I think maybe it was the carb choke? I'm trying to figure out where this breaker is in the engine so I can check it. Is there something different from the fuse on the starter solenoid?

Thanks!
