dont know is toy have fast start feature how many rpms will it pull before
if it is carb. motor and has sat you will need to clean, carbs
you will need to run compression test you will be in the hundred pound range but more important they need to be within 15% of each other
if you plan on working on it you will nee manual the factory reprints are the
best ,someone with more input will come along shortly .
well maybe its momorial day im working on mine now so like you im land bound on memorial day

good luck happy memorial day

Re: No power under load

I am not sure, but it will turn up about 6500-7000 rpm with no load on it. I think it does have the fast start on it.

Re: No power under load

you may have fast start prob you will probaly need manual
i dont know a lot about the fast start feature
go to search on here and search fast start probs and low rpm probs
a lot of the guys on here know a lot more about this prob look in the faq
section may be something on the fast start .is it idleing good ,
i know if the motor has no thermos it will not heat up keeping it in fast start mode ,are the carbs clean if has been sitting up you could have hi speed jet probs .if it has set go to awakeing a sleeping outboard in faq
well keep your post up untill someone shows up you need manual
the more info you have the better it will be

Re: No power under load

I have a manual but I am at a dead end here. I have done some more checks and found out that is not firing on the 2 4 6 port side. 1 3 5 fires fine. I put a new power pack on it, and it does run differently now than before. Please help???Thanks, Tim

Re: No power under load

Today I also pulled out the fuel pickup and made sure it was clean, put a new fuel line and siphon/prime bulb, and new fuel filter on it, just to make sure it was getting a good amount of fuel. Thanks again, Tim

Re: No power under load

you need to spark test all cyls with spark tester should jump 7/16 gap
to make sure your firing on all cyls have you done comp check.
have the carbs been done recently .
post back with spark check with new pack. and comp check
and we will go from there there will be some other guys on later tommorrow
that know more than i but they will want to know what motor /comp numbers
wether you have spark on all six and how fresh your carbs are.
ill be on tommorrow

BTW, I did do the continuity check on stator and timer, it all checked good, and all of the coils checked the resistance check.

Re: No power under load

i was wrong about quick start ,
you need to check your slow operation mode it will imit you speed to 2500
according to manual if you have clymer manual look in engine ignition testing for slow mode but back to ground zero how long since carbs cleaned ,
and comp check

Re: No power under load

New curve, just went out this morning and started on it again. My primer solenoid was so hot you could not touch it, I had to unplug the purple wire for about 30 minutes before I could take it off. I got it off and took the top off of it, and the plunger is seized, could this be the problem? Well I know it is a problem, but could it cause all of my other problems? Thanks, Tim

Re: No power under load

You will need to replace the primer, but having it off will not be critical, you should need to block the incoming fuel line to prevent flow.

There are several devices that can shut down half the cylinders on your engine and QuikStart A/K/A fast start is not one of them:

S.L.O.W. shuts down 1/2 the cylinders when the powerpack receives an overheat alarm for either cylinder bank;

S.L.O.W. shuts down half the cylinders when there is a problem with the fuel sytem;

The shift assist system shuts down half the cylinders when you shift out of gear under losd. The switch that controls it can be loose or misalignbed and cut half your cylinders, so check that first.

BTW, If you persist in running your engine up with no load, you are not going to need to worry about these things much longer.

Re: No power under load

Where do I start at checking the SLOW mode? and also, how do I check the blocking diode the manual talks about. I can't find the main wiring harness connector. Is it close to the engine or would it be close up to where the ignition switch is? Thanks, Tim

I think ezeke is attempting to be a bit too subtle here.

If you run your engine up to 3k+ RPMs w/o a load you stand a very good chance of toasting your powerhead.

Re: No power under load

Can someone please give me a few tips on what to look for while checking the SLOW mode?
