Re: No power under load

Okay I may be a dubm@!$%#%#, but I still need help. My engine is firing on the 2 4 6 side, not the port 1 3 5 side? please tell me I have that right now. From back of boat, behind motor, looking forward, left/port side is 1 3 5 and right/starboard side is 2 4 6???

Re: No power under load

On OMC V outboard engines the top right (starboard) is the number 1 cylinder. They are numbered in the order that they attach to the crankshaft, top to bottom. The firing order is the same, top to bottom.

The shift assist switch, also called a shift interrupt switch, is located behind the shift lever at the engine. If you follow the shift cable to the connection at the engine you can find it there. If you temporarily disconnect the switch, you can determine if it is causing the three cylinders to be grounded out. It has a black and yellow wire connection for the kill wire on the powerpack and a black ground wire. Disconnecting either at the switch will disable it.

Re: No power under load

Thanks Ezeke, I don't feel so bad now, I was pretty sure the 1 3 5 was on the right looking at it from the back, but wasn't sure. I am getting fire on 1 3 5, but nothing on 2 4 6. I did find that I had a bad primer solenoid, when I went to work on it this morning, it was so hot you could not touch it, pulled it apart and it was seized up. Got a new one of those coming, and also a ignition switch. Yesterday when I was messing with it, I could tap on it and the tach would jump around, not sure this has anything to do with firing problem, but I am thinking it may have something to do with solenoid over heating. When I get primer solenoid I will disconnect shift assist and see if that changes anything here. I have read and read, and tested all I know to test. Like I said, all I have tested so far tested good, and I put new primer bulb, fuel line, fuel filter, power pack, and plugs in it. Still guessing here, but about ready to take it to shop. Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tim
