Re: no registration

Far more than the registration, here in illinois it's less than $100 plus the tax.

Re: no registration

All of the following does not apply if you feel the boat is "hot"

Get a bill of sale from the seller and apply for a lost title at your local court house (or applicable titling office). You will then be able to legally register the boat.

A quick search through the States' database will quickly confirm if the boat has been reported stolen.

You may have to pay your Parish and state tax as well, I'm not sure how LA works used boats. But as the previous posted stated, get a bill of sale from the seller and take it to the court house and get a duplicate.

Re: no registration

you can do three things one legal.. take the bow registration number to the state it was once registered in. they will tell you the last registered owner was, then try to get them to get a duplicate title. then sign it over to you.

if you have a friend or relative in Georgia, pay for them to register it. then sell it to you. Georgia does not title boats.

register it home made. Florida's silly laws, causes a lot of us to become criminals.

Re: no registration

go here for starters:

http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/boating/registration/

and you can't apply for duplicate or lost title, etc. only the current known owner.
Of course if it was never registered in any state then I guess your the first owner.
You might want to have a LEO friend run the serial (HIN) before you go to register and they find it to be reported stolen.
