no reverse after hitting rock

I had a mishap with my 1993 70hp Evinrude motor. I hit hard a rock. I had to replace the propeller, the lower fin is broken off.
Since the accident the motor engages properly in forward but something prevents the shift lever in the motorhead to move into the reverse position.

I have noticed a small oil leak from the lower unit. I wonder if it could be related to the reverse problem. I am planning to seal the leak with epoxy pending welding the fin back.

I would appreciate if anybody could point me where to start looking to diagnose the problem.

If your lower unit housing is cracked I think that I would pull the lower unit and disassemble and check it over.

You need a gearbox, try ebay.
