I followed the instructions in the service manual to adjust my new lower shift cable including returning the stud in the slot of the shift arm back to the bottom. I had no issues adjusting it forward, but I was not able to shift into reverse. I followed the instructions to then adjust the shift arm stud up. It took moving it completely up to get reverse working.
So here is my question...what does this indicate since generally the stud should be all the way at the bottom of the slot? Could it be a stretched or badly adjusted remote control shift cable or does it mean the clutch dog teeth on the reverse side are worn?
