Re: no reverse
Remove Shift Cable at the Motor and and have someone move the shift control to forward and reverse. See if the Cable end at the Motor is moving to reverse. If not, you have a bad Cable or a problem in the Control unit. If it does move freely toward reverse, I would try to Manually shift the lower unit shift lever by hand, while a friend turns the Prop slowly.
