Re: no spark 115 evinrude

Love the motor. That's what I got. She still runs well. I believe if memory serves me correct, have to trace it in this order....1. you have 12 v when you turn the key. If you have volts(at the back terminals, can't remember off hand for sure which # it is) there then 2. you trace from your power pack to the ignition coil. If it's good that far, then 3. it goes from ignition coil to spark plugs. Tricky part is testing pack, need a special tester for that. Plus be sure to check if you have that clipper switch still installed or if it is bypassed with a jumper wire. I wasted about $500 on electronics when all it was was a loose jumper wire. At least all the electronics got updated, which isn't a bad thing either.

Re: no spark 115 evinrude

When you say back terminals are you talking about the back of the engine where the wires are screwed on and are numbered? Where is the power pack located, what type of tool do I need to test it and where can I buy one? Also what is a clipper switch and how can I tell if it's been bypassed?
Thanks for all of your help I'm a new boater and new to working on outboard engines. I've worked on many cars but this looks like a different ball game.
