1 ) Checked for spark using HEI spark testers . No Spark.
2 ) Lanyard switch test removed blk/yel from switch terminal and blk from switch terminal NO spark
3 ) Stop switch test. Removed blk/yel from plug terminal and blk from lead terminal. No spark,
4 ) Ground terminal test. Red meter lead to stator plate. Blk lead to ground . Good continuity
5 ) Isolation Diode test ( Coil ) Disconnected blk/yel lead. Continuity in 1 direction on both coils tested.

This engine ran great for the past year, until my son had to get towed in. Engine started to misfire then no start.
The procedures above are from the Force service manual.
Every test passed. I suspect the coils. But it is a $ 250.00 guess. The coils are stamped Sem Walbro AM 42
Mercury makes a replacement 300-850899T.
Any suggestions ???

Check spark with a spark gap tester, see if spark will jump any gap, though, sounds like the coils are bad, which is common for Force outboards using BIM coils. Weird both coils went at the same time. Small Force outboards will run surprisingly smooth with a dead coil, idle just a smidge lower and no WOT power.

My Gamefisher 7.5HP says Force made by Mercury inside the cowl, and when one of the coils went bad I couldn't find a replacement, they were NLA, 8-10 years ago...

I'd check that Mercury P/N as last I heard the BIM coils for small Force outboards (7-15HP) were NLA. Supposedly, Chicago Magneto makes replacement coils for about $100 each. CDI also makes an ignition upgrade kit that's $200-250. I went with the CDI kit, been working great since.

Thanks for the reply. This doesn't use the BIM coils. It uses the Sem Walbro coils. I have the service manual and the coil wiring colors are correct for the Sem Walbro. Also the coils are inprinted SEM Walbro AM 42. I claaed CDI . No luck
