I have a 93 evinrude 15 h.p. rope pull start outboard I recently acquired. The guy I got it from said it was running fine and then It Just didn't start one day. It had no spark and A mechanic took a quick look at it and said he thought the power pack was probably the culprit. The first thing I did was change the power pack. And I still have no spark, not even a pulse. I already disconnected the kill switch and wired it together just in case. The only time I've ever seen one of these motors lose all spark like that has usually been something like a kill switch or seperated wire. I can't even begin to afford the local marinas $60 and hour to fix it. Help!!!!

Is the kill switch lanyard attached?

Look for a black button on the front of the engine or toward the rear of the tiller handle. It may also be on the very end of the tiller handle.

Hold it in and see if you get spark.

If you look under the hood, you may see two wires going toward the front of the engine. That's the kill circuit.

The kill switch should be open for the motor to run, disconect where you have wired it together and try again.

Re: No Spark at all !!!!

It had a lanyard kill switch on the end of the tiller handle. I had no spark with it engaged or disengaged. So I removed the switch and wired it together, I just went out and disconnected the two wires that were for the kill switch. Still no fire.
