No spark on 15hp johnson

Traded for it, not sure of the year but it's have no spark. Has no battery or starter, just a pull rope. Engine ran fine in august. What do I check 1st? Kill switch has one wire to ground and other goes to a connector with oil pressure switch? Then they go into what I'm guessing is a power pack?? ((little pack front on engine sends power to coil)) only one orange wire to coil. How do I bypass this kill switch? Or get spark, thank for any help!!

For starters welcome to this forum. People on here are so helpful but usually need a little more info to assist. Can you post some pictures or further details on exactly what engine you have and are trying to start? Model numbers, serial numbers, year of engine and of course pictures get results so much faster... Not knowing what you’re up against being how Johnson built so many different 15 HP engines in their times, I will wait for more info... However there are ways to do what you want and the pro’s on here will help out.

You can start by unhooking the black wire (from the kill sw) where it hooks to the harness.

Model and serial number from engine welch plug or mount bracket plate, please?
In the mean time, as cr2k indicates, disconnect the kill switch wire. This takes the switch out of play. Recheck for spark. Spark energy should be enough to jump 3/8" with air gap tester.
Have no idea about your reference to an oil pressure switch.

I believe the oil pressure switch referred to is the vacuum switch that helps prevent a runaway.
The folks here will help as much as they can but you really need a factory service manual.
