Re: no spark on num 1 cyl

So I GOT IT!!!!! You will never believe this crap. So I might not have metioned something and really, it never crossed my mind. So I'll start by saying that when I first took off the flywheel to change the stator, the magnet stayed on the stator and was not attached to the flywheel ( HELLO ) didn't even think about that (my bad) so what ended up happening is I got the other stator off my motor in the back yard and put it on my motor on my boat along with the flywheel. so I tested it today and it tested bad. Well I brought the first stator that I took off with me to test. The one that is on my boat now, one side not working correct.......checked the original one that was on my boat, tested good( which I never should have taken off in the first place when I noticed the flywheel) So remember in the begining I changed the stator (to the bad one) and also changed the flywheel still I was having the same problem. So........now I have spark on all 3 cylinders. The stator I took off my motor in the back yard was no good and I put it on my boat and that was the problem !!!!!! The flywheel I think had something to do with it too but I dont understand why it would not give spark to # 1 but to the other two, unless with everything else I have done I also fixed another underliying problem. So hope you can understand all that and once again THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!!!!! If theres any way we can be friends on this iboat thing just let me know how so we can keep in touch. Once again thanks for everything I will post back after this weekend when I take it out to the lake and run her !!!!!

Great that you finally figured it out! You probably got the wiring on the terminal strip memorized by now. LOL!

Re: no spark on num 1 cyl

ok so the boat ran good for about 3 hrs then it bogged for a sec then cut off. It started right back up but when I went to give it full throttle it cut off again. Started right up again full throttle and died again. So I started it again and it started and gave it enough throttle to were it wouldnt cut off and it ran for about 5 min and then cut off again and would not start back up. Drove it home about 40 min ride hooked it up to the water hose and it started right up as soon as I turned the key. Friends say trash or water in the lines, I know my oil mixture is good I put 52 oz in 18 gallons also added seafoam and the ethanol additive. I just hoping I didnt burn a hole in the piston by useing the wrong mixture. Does that mixture sound right? and what are your thoughts on the cutting off problems. Thanks again for any help.

For a 50:1 mixture 18 gallons would be 46 oz of oil. 52 oz for 18 gallons shouldn't hurt anything. Check out your fuel supply. Maybe trash in the tank. Bad primer bulb, or bad fuel line etc.

The sticker on the boat said 50:1 so I figured if I put 52oz it wouldn't hurt. I also while on the water took off the fuel line to the carbs and had my wife turn it over and fuel was coming out of the lines and I still have spark on all 3 cyl. The primer bulb is brand new along with the fuel line from the gas tank to the motor. Thats what my friends are saying trash in the fuel but if there was a block to cut off the motor why was it still pumping out the line when I disconnected it. So I guess I'm going to drain the tank theres only about 5 or 6 gallons left and I'll clean out the tank again and fill with new fuel.

I'm assuming you have a built in tank. If there's a way you can actually look into the tank through the opening where the fuel sending unit is mounted, that may be helpful. See if there is a leaf or some type of similar debris that may be intermittently blocking the fuel pick up tube. Also, make sure the gas tank fuel vent is not plugged. As the gas gets used up, a blocked vent will create a vacuum in the tank that the fuel pump can't overcome.

Check the fuel pick up tube. Depending on the design, typically the fuel pick up is a metal tube that goes all the way down to within an inch or so of the bottom of the tank. The fuel pick up should be located towards the stern of the boat on the gas tank. I've seen a few where the fuel pick up tube is pretty short and a length of rubber hose is used to extend it down. The rubber hose gets rotted and falls off, or has big cracks in it so the fuel pump only works when the tank is full and as the fuel gets lower, fuel delivery get spotty depending on how the boat is tilted.
