Ok, so I got this boat for $800 last weekend. Didn't have a motor, fuel tank, lines, nothing....so I got some goodies and wanted to see what I was working with here. Got everything hooked up, the motor just turns over, so I pull the plugs... lay them against the motor, get no spark. It is a side console, but the ignition key doesn't work, looks to be a wiring issue but I made sure the key was in the "run" position just for good measure. I am currently using a screwdriver to jump the starter. My question(s) is/are.... what am I looking at here. First I have no idea what my motor is (i am a great car mechanic, I just have no experience with outboards, lawn mowers, or tractor engines!). I have looked up parts and it wants to know do I have an alternator or magneto....I have no clue. 2nd I have one coil per cylinder and then a main ignition box on top right? what is that called? I have seen it called a c-d box or an ignition box. This thing is like $300 on most websites and then it says its obsolete! Since I have no spark coming out of either plugs I figure its this mystery box thats is the culprit, or am I wrong? Someone said that it might me the magneto or something under the flywheel, I don't know if my model even has that. Can someone interpret what engine/features I actually have! Looking up the serial number (357F6A) its a 1986 35hp Force 2 cycle....Fuel ratio? any schooling on this will be of great help. And yes I can take you guys making fun of me for being the new guy! Lol....thanks fella's

P.S. I have put up a 360 degree picture attachment so you can visually see what I am dealing with. This motor is clean, this is just after I bought it.IMG_20120709_184741.jpgIMG_20120709_184752.jpgIMG_20120709_184857.jpgIMG_20120709_184907.jpgIMG_20120709_184925.jpg

The magnito/alternator question is already answered for you on your electrics decal. Pull the flywheel using a proper puller to find out for sure if you have points or an electronic ignition module. Look on the transom clamp for a model/serial ID plate.
