I have a 1980 outboard motor, the top cylinder is not sparking (new plug staying bright and shiny) I can get the motor started but real rough running of course. With this in mind when the motor does start the key will not kill the motor (I have to choke it out)
Evinrude
model E35ELCSM
I also checked the wires at the key
5-wires
Yellow with red stripe is starter wire, terminal S.
Purple with white stripe is primer/choke wire, terminal C.
Red or red with purple is hot from battery, terminal B.
Black with yellow stripe comes from power pack, terminal M on left side of B
terminal looking at back of switch.
Black is ground, terminal M on right side of B looking at back of switch. (raised terminal)
One terminal is open with "I" beside it (is this ignition??? and do I need a wire to it)
