my 9.9 hp tohatsu has no spark. new coil, kill button.have tested wires coming out of flywheel, both wires ohm out within specs. cannot get any thing out of the single coil lead coming from the c.d.i. anyone had any experience with tohatsu c.d.i's ?
Having the model would be a help. Don't know whether you have a 2-smoke or a 4-stroke.
Verify that the kill switch wire isn't accidentally grounded. (and of course make sure the stop lanyard is in place on later models). Then ohm-test the cd box. If you are delivering signal to the cdi, and the kill is not grounded, you may have a bad cdi.
The Factory service manual (available from any dealer) will have the ohm numbers you need to check out the cdi.
thank you for your response, the motor is a 1993 m 9.9b. i did test at the lead going to the c.d.i. and got ohms, nothing appears to come out of the c.d.i., including the wire to the coil. the kill switch is new. when removed from the circuit i get a readings from it. i also believe the c.d.i. is at fault but because of the cost i would like to be sure, outside input is always helpful.
