I have a 1995 15hp force outboard that is not getting spark. I checked the plugs and they are good. The motor started to stumble last year while accelerating and finally would not start at all. It must have a coil, but where is it located? Does the lanyard switch ever go bad? Any ideas? Thank you!!

Re: No spark

Hi bellosa, the points and coils are under the flywheel, it may be just dirty points, suggest getting some emery paper, after lifting the flywheel, and cleaning the points and resetting them with feeler gauges to .030 I think.

Re: No spark

Get your self a manual it's my best advice. Per my experience from yesterday and even last year, check all wires make sure they are not loose nor rubbing on the chassis like mine the ignition coil and module pack was tight and pressing on 2 cables grounding it self even though I showed a weak yello spark. image.jpg
