Probably washing out the prop. Losing water around the prop, causes a wash.

By the way, don't make sharp turns, it just creates rollers that go accross the lake. If you are pulling a skier and they fall, simply back off the throttle and wait a second for the rollers to catch up to the boat, then idle back to the skier. All other boaters on the lake will appreciate it as the lake will stay smoother.

When you try and take a turn at speed as was said above the prop starts to cavitate, gets air around it, and can't get a grip on the water. It helps to trim the motor all the way in as you go into the turn and roll off the throttle a little. You can tell by the sound of the motor when the prop starts to slip. This is normal you take a turn at full throttle and the prop is going to slip.
