Had a no start situation recently. After running the boat for probably around an hour we stopped to just hang out. When it was time to get going the motor would not start. When turning the key would get a nice "vroom" from the motor then nothing. Clearly was getting fuel at the start but then nothing. Ended up having to get towed in. When back at the dock my brother in law tried to troubleshoot. We kept getting the same, Sounded strong when turning the key then nothing. Finally he just banged lightly on the fuel pump, followed by a small amount of gas into the carb. Tried starting it again and it fired right up. Since then I've probably stopped and started 20-25 times without any issues. Boat has been running great. I believe this is an electrical fuel pump so banging on it shouldn't have done anything, right? Right now there is nothing to troubleshoot as it is running fine but i don't want another no start situation. Is replacing the fuel pump a safe way to go? And if so, can you direct me to the correct pump to order.

Thanks in advance....

Thanks for the info Yegboats. Any thoughts on what happened and why it's been working fine since?

I don't know where all the smart guys are, but I will tell you what I am dealing with..

I have similar issues as you do. I have a 5.0GL-B carb motor. It would start and idle just fine, open the throttle and it would stall. It always started up again and had no issues, sometimes all day, other times, all trip long. I did change the fuel pump and filter during the off season hoping it was 1 of the 2 causing the issue, NOPE.. took it out last week, stalled again, actually 3 times in one day.

Now on the trailer in my driveway I have zero fuel pressure.. relay, diodes, fuel pump test, all to be checked tonight..
