so i was on the lake today and got to a fishin spot and shut my boat down and when i went to leave it wouldent start. can someone tell me how exactly the this works. if i click the key to the on position usally all the gauges move (batt, fuel, trim, and so on. i got nothing i checked all the fuses and none of them are poped. with the key on am i sapose to have 12v going to the ign switch? i hooked up a volt meter to see if i had power goin to the ign switch and i got nothin even when i try to crank it. im thinking its either the starter seloniod or the ign switch but i just replaced the selonoid this year so im leaning toward the ign switch but not sure can somone tell me the proper way to diagnose this before i go throwing parts at it?? oh ya its a ford 2.3 with a omc drive. thanks..................

Re: no start

yes, with key on you should have 12v at switch. fusible links at the battery, check for circuit breaker, usually a red button that says reset on it, usually found on motor, i believe. others may know more about that. also, the simple, check battery cable connections at battery and on motor.

Re: no start

If it's not the circuit breaker on the engine, check the engine wiring harness plug on top of the engine. Just unplug it and plug it back in.
If you have no power to your Ign. switch on the red wire, AND YOUR BATTERIES ARE TURNED ON, AND NOT DEAD, it's not your ign. switch or your solenoid. Follow that red wire (on the ign. switch) back until you find out where it loses power. It eventually leads back to to the eng plug i mentioned before.
