I thought about testing the rectifiers to see what the difference is but I said screw it im going fishing. I just got back home.
I’m thinking about ordering another one as a spare.

Huh , I have just had a mega run around because of a new pulse coil that had the ( colour coded ) wires and plug transposed inside the coil and was screwing up the ignition advance .....I even bought a new CDI before discovering the real fault ......and this was from a US supplier . They have sent me the wrong gaskets , a faulty starter clutch set assy and this pulse coil . I aint going back
Just to add ... what pisses me off the most is that I have been in the service/repair line of work far to long to be caught out by blindly believing that the new part is good .

shame you got a faulty one , and a spare is a cheapish bit for piece of mind . Probly the biggest issue for these things is heat . You could change the mounting if the thing is bolted to something hot like the cylinder block . I have previously mounted the reg/rect on a bit of ally sheet using heat conductive paste and then attached the ally sheet to something cool or somewhere where it gets a bit of cool air moving past it . For instance you could attach it to the inside of the lower cowling or place it next to the air intake hole in the top cover . Easy enough to make up an extension harness if needed .:)
