The other day, it dawned on me that I could save myself a lot of problems, if the warning horn on this motor was working properly. I always assumed it was, but I am thinking it is not, because I get no horn when I turn on the ignition. On this particular unit, the key is part of the tiller handle assembly. I have a shop manual, and I am going to take apart the unit to see if there are any obvious connection or grounding problems. If I can't see anything obvious, I am guessing the next thing to do would be to replace the horn itself.

Can anybody provide any input about whether or not this is likely the source of my problem? Otherwise the motor runs like a top!

cheers

With the key in the RUN position, ground the tan wire from the temp sensor. The horn should sound. If not, check the wiring, test the sender (its nothing more than a snap switch and can be tested in a pan of water on the stove (provided you have an ohm meter or test light and know how to use it).
