I made sure the key was aligned when putting impeller in, all new gaskets Etc
No water
I don't know where the thermostat is to see if water made it their
Any one have a suggestion? I guess I could drop the lower unit and take apart the water pump housing again
Any clues about where the thermostat cover is?

If water was present before, there's only 2 options:

1 - key not in place (you already ruled it out)
2 - water tube not lined up properly

If by water not being there you mean the tell tale, some debris might have gotten into the tell tale fitting.

from beginning-their was no water out tell tale or exhaust,

from beginning-their was no water out tell tale or exhaust,

took off the intake screens and found bits of impeller, so dropped lower unit and replaced cover, impeller and gaskets. As above no water out telltale, also not out exhaust.
I will remove the tube where the tell tale hooks up and see if water makes it their, If not I guess I will drop the lower unit again and see if I messed something up- like the water tube

I bought the boat and motor last year- no water then- the seller took it to his mechanic who "blew out a bug nest" to fix it. it ran fine the one time I used it end of last season. Seller started the motor dry, so i bet the impeller got buggered back then

tail between- you know- thanks

tail between- you know- thanks

blew out tubes- and tried again-nada
took off lower unit again- every thing fine except no H2O in pump housing- not a drop - all passages open - including to intake, key was in place and all the parts in correct place Etc
Put it back together and still nada- using a hose fitting thats fits over intake

Put in in a garbage pail- plenty water- Maybe my hose pressure is just too low

thanks for all the suggestions- I never had an outboard not flow with those fittings- maybe my hose is too pinch from the roll up storage unit, or too long so pressure drops (or both?)
