Anyone have any clues

Re: no water flow

Why did you replace the impeller to begin with? I'd re-check the impeller. Make sure the blades were flexed in the correct direction at install. If previous impeller shredded, check for chunks of the old on in the pickup tube. With the gearcase off, hold a hose to the water pickup tube, check the telltale while doing this, also remove the thermostat cover while doing this to make sure that water can get into that part of the engine and there are no blockages. Check your poppet valve, if seated incorrectly, water will bypass the engine altogether and you get no telltale. Thats about it really...

Presuming that you did get the direction correct, I ran into a similar problem recently myself. I had the water on full blast and nothing was coming out. So while I had the motor running I forced the muffs on real right to force the water up and in. All of a sudden there was pee!

I did this with the prop off naturally so make sure to use so common sense on this one. If you still get no water, you might want to check the direction of the impeller you put in (as the other person mentioned)

i will recheck the impeller. i did put a hose up the pick up tube and i could only get the water to come out the telltale if i plugged the exhaust hole coming out of the motor. i removed both thermostat covers and and hooked up a hose to the flush port and I get water out of the left one and every now and again the right one. What is the poppet valve and where would it be located and how do i check it???? thanks.

It's been reported on several forums the bigger 4 stroke Yammys have a hard time peeing with the muffs on. I read that you should use the double hose muffs and try to cllamp them together to prevent little water from leaking out. Also, don't run the motor much over idle speed on muffs.
I have heard of someone using a "Y" connector and running both muffs and washout port together...

Also make sure the stainless steel cup that the impeller rides in did not become miss indexed and is skewed enough to restrict the pump outlet. FRED
