Hey guys. I have a 2008 Mercury 50 hp 3 cyl outboard that has lost most of it's water flow through the tell-tale. When I throttle up the engine in neutral, I will occasionally get some water flow but it is now rare. Here's what I've done so far:
1) Replaced the impeller (that was only a year old)
2) Replaced the impeller housing upper gasket
3) Removed the thermostat and ran the engine shortly (with no water flow from tell-tale)
4) Ensured the water tube seal from the impeller housing isn't blocked (the seal is old and may be collapsing after I put the lower back on)
The only thing I haven't done yet us flush the system manually, replace the water tube seal above, or check the hose from the engine block to the tell tale. I was going to take the thermostat off and try to flush it from there and let gravity help. I'll be tackling those next weekend. Is there anything I am missing? Anything else I should check/try while I have the lower off?
