noise at high pressure fuel pump

i have a whining noise at the high pressure fuel pump. changed to new fuel filter ..checked fuel line from tank to fuel filter and it wasnt restricted...any ideas....and how do i know the high pressure pump is going bad ????please help

ps. what is the part number for the fuel pump?and it is an efi engine also can i use a automotive fuel pump instead?
