Been averaging about 6 hours of sleep for a month now, I think it has taken it's toll.

Last night, I needed to unload some pipe from the trailer, we sinch a chain around it and then to a tree and pull away, works great every time.

....Except last night I dropped the trailer on the ball, and since I wasn't going on the road, I didn't bother getting in the bed to hook up the Chains or Lights.

.......Or latch the gooseneck down.

When the pipe hit the end of the dove tail, it lifted it off the ball and it slammed down and took out the tailgate, bent the side of the bed in a couple inches, so now I'm going to have to just go to a cargo net.

And yes, that's my ugly mug getting it jacked back up.
We had a couple of guys at work loading a backhoe on the trailer and it wasn't latched on the gooseneck good thing the safety chains were hooked up made a heck of a noise and the hoe was on the beaver tail with the ramps folded up behind the rear tires. was interesting getting everything hooked back up.

After receiving a 550$ Costco Cash card for my Birthday, I put it inside it's little bright red folder, in a clip on the visor of my work van. I did not have an immediate use in mind for the card but I knew that when I did use it I would be driving the van.

After only three days and two unattended (van unlocked) stops, the card had vanished from the visor. A CASH card stolen? Needless to say I was sick to my stomach.

I still thought that I would call Costco. To my great releif, they had a record of the card that was tied to the member ID of the purchaser. They put an emergency stop on the card and confirmed it had not been used yet. WHEW!!

Moral of the story, do not put cash cards on your visor.

Re: Non Boating Stupid Human Trick

My stupid trick happened Friday. I loaded up one of our commercial grills that I had rebuilt back in February. It weighs in about 1000 pounds. While loading it into our equipment trailer which is a single axle 5x8 with a ramp. When the ramp is down, it prevents the trailer from tipping. After having secured it, I noticed that the interlock plug was not on the end of the control cord. So not being sure which wires did what, I needed to hot wire it and turn the grill on. To do so, I had to unhook the hold down straps and roll the grill back about a foot to get to the controls.

Well, the grill kept rolling. Being outside the trailer, I didn't have the leverage to stop it. It went past center tipping the trailer up. As the trailer tipped up, the grill then decided to flip over on its backside. There is about 450 pounds of steel balance weights in the back of the grill. This makes the back heavier than the front. As it flipped over, it cut into the control cord which is a 5 conductor SO cord. It also severed into two of the #4AWG SO 4 conductor power cords. Just glad I wasn't inside the trailer or I would have been flattened like a pancake.

Finally got the grill righted back up after using a floor jack to get the trailer level again. Then I noticed I completely destroyed the rear casters of the grill. Lucky I had new casters in stock along with extra wire. Took me 4 more hours to get it back together again.

Installed the grill monday morning and it worked without any problems......Boy was that a relief. Thought for sure my boss was gonna have my nads on a plate for sure. I hate working by myself moving heavy stuff around......just one of these days I'm gonna be caught off guard and in trouble.

Hey Noel, I got two solenoids for ya! Same address?

SS... Yes, That would be great. The one suddenly quit leaking/sticking, not sure what was going on, but it's working for now.

...How much pressure can those cylinders take? We've been running them at 125.

I'm not sure what the limit is. Our application calls for 60 psi. I used one for a can crusher and had it set for the max my little aircomp would deliver. I think it was 125 also. I don't think I would go over that. I'll see if I can get some specs for you.

That's a classic! Thanks for sharing.

I remember in college we would do office moves for some extra $$$. One time a safe was coming down the ramp off the truck and it was heavier than we all thought. Best we could do is get out of the way and watch it roll down. The outside wall of the building stopped it pretty good. Glad no one was hurt.

Re: Non Boating Stupid Human Trick

My SHT concerning trailers happened a couple of years ago when I was working for Kawasaki Australia. We had sponsored an Amusement park in Sydney with the loan of several 650cc ATVs for their cartoon character parade (Incredible Hulk, Captain Marvel etc). The park went bust and I was tasked with picking up our ATVs. I hitched a trailer onto the tow hitch of our Mercedes van and drove to the park.
I loaded two ATVs into the van via the rear doors, then hitched up the trailer. I then placed the loading ramps on the rear of the trailer and drove the first ATV up the ramps. Half way up the hitch came off the ball, the trailer draw bar reared into the air only to be suddenly stopped by the safety chain. I stopped the ATV, put on its parking brake and gently climbed off. The draw bar then came crashing down and dented the tailgate of the van on its way. I rehitched, locked the hitch to the ball (which I neglected to do first time around) and continued to load.
A very humbled Kawasaki employee delivered the ATVs back to the warehouse. Kawasaki never did fix the dent... it's still there to remind people of the dangers of tow hitches!

Re: Non Boating Stupid Human Trick

One guy who was building a porch on my house told me about the time one of his helpers tried to unhitch a trailer on a hill. He accidentally put the chocks on the uphill side of the wheels(LOL). then he proceded to crank the 2000# trailer off the ball while standing in the vee of the tongue. When the trailer cleared the ball it started to roll down the hill with him still in the vee. It rolled almost 500 ft down the incline before depositing him on the ground. It then travelled almost 300 ft. before hitting a treeline. He learned to unhitch a trailer before unhooking safety chains.
