non-marine generator?? pros-cons

I was thinking of running a small generator on my swim platform.<br />

<br />I know all about carbon monoxide, I am going to use it to run a small on-board air conditioning unit, tv and a microwave, not all at the same time.<br /><br />I have seen it done before, but what are the negatives?<br /><br />Thanks in advance :confused:

i would think the biggest saftey issue after carbon monoxide would be keeping it fueled saftely.<br /><br />Your going to be pretty busy with the 5 galllon gas can<br /><br />tommays

Price? Noise level?<br /><br />There's a thread on this very subject on the Boat US boards right now. Quite a few people run them on the deck, bow, or platform.<br /><br />Obviously a CO detector is required.<br /><br />I've also been looking at the inexpensive diesel semi-portable units on eBay. Less of a CO issue, no gas danger, and 5kw output.

I have the honda 2000 and love it. Do not use it on my boat but would if I needed one. Mine is very quiet and looks like the one you show except red. A pro is it is not stuck on boat. You can use it anywhere. The con is that it is easy to steal.
