just wondering....

Did any NON hockey fans see the all stars skill competition?

did you see any highlights?

post here about what you thought, and please take time to vote in the poll.

this is just for some fun resarch.

thanks for your time.

I couldn't care less!

But, don't take offense as I don't like: football, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, skating, skiing, competitive ball room dancing, under water tiddly winks, etc, etc either :D

I'm just wondering why you would ask this of non fans?

And why you think a non fan would have seen it?

Personally, I've been to a few hockey games, but never got into it.

Appreciate that there are skill sets for every sport, but I was busy watching the Rolex (with JB?) today.

i was hoping some non hockey fans might have just tuned in for the heck of it......and was wondering thier thoughts.

even if you watch the evening news.....there were some highlights...

As a Canadian....I am very biased about this game. So I see it thru different eyes than someone from say....new mexico
as well....some of the stuff these guys were doing on the skills competition was unbelievable. Defying laws of gravity, and seemingly about 10 other laws of physics.

So my real question behind the matter .....was ....did any one that does not like hockey, see some of the stuff and appreciate it enough to make you want to look deeper in the sport?

I really appreciate you all for taking the time to look in on a post about a sport that means nothing to you.

Re: non NHL fans click here !

I'm with you oops. Its a very, very, very high skill sport. Every one of these hockey players today would easily pass a body fat test that a lot of NFL players couldn't hope to pass in a lifetime.
This is a very hard sport to play well....and look like you know what you're doing...even when you drastically slow the game down to match player talent. (remember 'schmockey'?)
I think of hockey and soccer (and dirtbiking) as the very highest caliber all around athletes out there.
.....but thats just me.:D:)
The skills competition, particularly the fastest skater, I think is great. Interestingly, I didn't see yesterday's result....but it is interesting that no one (to my knowledge) has ever beat Gartner's record. (correct me if I'm wrong oops).
The hardest shot...well, damn...thats a lot of physics (ie: Chara). The most accurate shooter tho', is high skill.
Great event all around and a great 'teaser' or introduction for those who aren't up on the game.
My two bits.

I enjoy going to a live sporting event from time to time, however, I rarely, if ever, watch any on TV (on my own accord anyway).

Re: non NHL fans click here !

Yeah, I kind of feel sorry for Shea Weber in some respects. He has a very heavy, fast shot and set a new record even from last year...apart from this years new results and is a clear finalist....but Chara with 7' on skates height/torque advantage is not ever going to be beat at this point.
Still....its good that Weber is such a good sport about it....and you got to love Alfredson's show.....class act, that guy!!
I'm not too sure what to say about Ovechkin in all this....at least Evegeni was a better sport about it all.
It's a good event, a bit showy in some respects...but it really helps show some great skills. I do like the break-away challenge but they should add something to it....like for every goal they put in, there will be a $5000 gift to a specific charity. That way the players put just a little bit more into the final delivery.;)

The skills portion was great. What those guys can do with the stick ad puck is amazing.

The game was kinda a dud.
