I have decided after many hours of fishing from docks and bridges that I needed to invest in a boat. Well congrats to me, I purchased an 18' Nautico (by Seagull boats) Catamaran. She is powered by a Honda BF90. So far, so good, i'm having a blast...not only on the water, but learning about boating and how much fun owning a boat is (there is a small hit of sarcasm that should be inserted)... :D
OK....seagull inc. is no longer in business, but everyone keeps telling me what a great boat it is......I am a techical type person that has to know everything.....I can find NO information on this boat!!! There are a few issues that I am having.....getting water in the hull(not much, but enough to drive me crazy trying to figure out where it is coming from) and a few little things I want to know about.

Does anyone have any info on Seagull???? Does anyone here own a Seagull cat....??

I have lurked around the posts and see that alot of you are treasure chests of knowledge!! Any help, hints, tricks or tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Be safe.....

Re: Noob here with a question

Thanks....I checked it, but I believed the design has changed. My boat is a 1997, and the earliest year they have listed was 2002. I'll keep snooping around, but thanks for the quick reply!!

Re: Noob here with a question

Hello and welcome aboard !

Any hole in the hull can leak.

Any thru bolted items such as a tansducer, swim platform. Any wires going thru the hull??

They can all leak.

Light on the front of the boat screw holes can leak.

Solution sillycone. Remove screw dip in sillycone and reinstall.

Oh don't miss the bow eye. Don't have to fully remove that back off the inside nuts so you can get a half inch of threads showing thru the front and get the sillycone on the threads and tighten it back up.

The bilge plug it tight or you need a new one?

Don't know what you want to know about Seagull but they made the hull and then put a bunch of other peoples stuff in it, very little of a boat is actually made by the company.

As the production run of boats is so small there is no Clymers manual or anything like that.

I build pontoon boats and we make the tubes and rails and various other bits and pieces but the rest of the boat is purchased from vendors and put on the boat, of the boat itself we make probably only 5% of the parts on it.

As to the leak, concentrate on anything at or below the water line including any area that waves might ride up on, reseal all of that with 3M 4200 or 5200, it is better than silicone.

You shouldn't have to completely remove things, just loosen them up enough to get a bead in behind it and have a rag handy to wipe off the excess.

Once that is done if it still leaks you have eliminated half the possibilities.

Nice boat and good luck.

If you find a leaking fitting, do yourself a favor and pick up a tube of 3M 4200 (polyurethane sealer) or Boatlife Boat Seal (polyurethane/industrial silicone sealer). Don't use plain silicone, it just won't hold up and you'll be gooping more on in a matter of months or next season.

Re: Noob here with a question

Thanks for all of the replies......this weekend I am going to go over the boat from one end to the other and seal everything I can with 5200. I'm also installing a new t-top.... and fixing some gelcoat issues.....

Again thanks for all of the help and suggestions, I'm sure I'll be back with more questions.

Oh and btw....I have been fishing since I was a little boy....mostly fresh water and in the intercoastal waterways and have yet to catch a fish over ten pounds.......

So if I come back on here posting a pic of a fish thats over ten lbs and I'm giggling like a schoolgirl, please be easy on me.

Enjoy the weekend..

Be forewarned, whatever you seal with 5200 will be really hard to remove once it cures. I rather use 4200 since you never know what you might have to remove in the future. If it is a hole, then I would not have a problem with 5200 although I more than likely use marintex or an equivalent. Full cure period of regular 5200 is over a week if I recall right.
Good luck, nice boat!!!

A yes...5200 has made me cuss a few times this week...I'm reglassing part of the transom and there was alot of 5200 on there. At least I know it works!!! Lots of patience and broken fingernails and it comes off. I did get the fast cure for my repairs.

Thanks again for all of ur help...

Hoolz!
