HELP!! I am unable to get my boat in the water until I solve this problem.

Coming up to the helm from my '91 Bravo One's tilt and trim pump assembly is a 4 pack of wires. The are molded together like a trailer harness. They are colored: Red/Purple/Blue/Green.

Presently, they go into the control for the trim switch. Also, the red and purple are spliced and go to the "trailer up" switch.

Does anyone know what the codes are for these colors? I need to know what each does.

Help a brother out.

Many thanks in advance.

goldnrod24

The blue wire is for the "up"
The green wire is for the "down"
Easy to remember because blue is up (sky) and green is down (grass). ;)
As you mention, the wires spliced together go to the trailer switch, which simply bypasses the trim limit switch on the outdrive and allows the unit to go all the way up.

PS - Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the reply. So is the red or the purple one the "power" lead?? My switch requires a third connection to the powered lead and I need to know which is which. Also, if the purple is power, do I leave the red connected at the control or clip it (so it goes only to the trailer up switch.

Thanks for the info and the welcome.

Randy

The best bet is to get your voltmeter out, (you DO have one don't you? :) ), and double check it... but having said that, I'm fairly sure the red one is the hot wire, while the purple one has to do with the trailer function. As mentioned, it bypasses the trim switch and goes directly to the blue "up" wire back by the transom.

RED - HOT 12+
PURPLE - TRAILER (UP)
BLUE - UP (GOES THROUGH TRIM LIMIT SWITCH)
GREEN - DOWN
