So with two people my 105 gets my 16 foot boat on plane pretty fast. But with 3 more people it gets on plane really slow but once its up it does fine its just taking off is slow. I was thinking it may be normal because an extra 300-500 lbs could be alot for it. Is it possible points not being gapped correctly could cause this? can adjusting the fine tuning on the ditributor help?

Oh, that engine is trash! I'll take it off your hands for 50 bucks- and turn it into this---LOL

Seriously: 5 people in a 16 foot boat is a very heavy load. Coupled with the fact that the 105 actually only delivered 90 HP. It was rerated by Chrysler in 1982 to 90 when the NMMA decreed that all engines would be measured by prop horsepower.

If you have a tach, you should read the reduced RPM under the heavy load. You may want to consider buying a used prop 2 pitches lower for those times.
