It does look like a 'rude.

My grandfather had a huge, heavy monster of a chainsaw (can you tell how much I enjoyed using it) that was a Northwood. Never seen it on an ob though, must be a rebadged something.

You guys think that looks like a 'rude; eh?

Looks like a Force to me....even that same grey color that Force used.

Thanks for reading, Chuck

Yes you are correct Northwood motors are a rebadged Force, they were sold as a package deal w/ a Northwood boat (rebadged Smokercraft), and a rebadged trailer (Yacht Club).
In the upper midwest these boats are quite common, however you don't see the motors often, they only produced the motors for a few years in the early to mid ninties.
They were primarily sold by a dealer group Link Recreational also Olympic Boat centers.
I have owned a Northwood boat for 9 years and I can say they are a good boat for a great value (I paid $3200 for my 14'6" boat with a 25hp Evinrude and a Yacht Club trailer brand new, and I could sell it today for more then that).
Looks like a nice boat pictured in the ad, are you thinking about buying it?

The leg right below the lower cowling pan doesnt look "thick" enough to be a rude. Plus the cowling doesnt have has many angles (that is tough to describe LOL)

The exact same setup is for sale locally here and MIGHT be able to pick up for $2000. Think I should go for it?

I wouldn't. That motor is a Force and parts and service are getting scarce for those motors as they were discontinued in the late 90's.

Again, it depends on price. Since it is a Force, the package's value is going to be less. As has been previously mentioned, Northwoods boats/ motors were a low coast entry level boat and are common in MN, WI, IA, and IL. Just based upon the fact that the picture shows a Northwoods motor on a Smokercraft- I would guess that this package was sold by Link Recreation and is original. TD- you know as well as anyone here- Do the usual checks on the outboard (compression, tune up, clean carbs, impeller, etc.) and it should be ok. For the right money, that looks like an OK deal. You might even be able to re-sell it and make some money on it in the right area (such as up here in MN).
