Re: Norton AV

For spyware I bought "pest patrol" it deletes spyware as I surf. Well worth the money IMHO.

That's another thing about Norton, it's a huge hog for resources.

Well you can guess, but I will say it is the standard answer whether the issue is her computer, cell phone, car etc. She ran over the lawn mower and broke off a driven wheel a few months back. Yup, my fault . . . The operator is not responsible for the equipment around here. I think it's in her union contract . . .

Re: Norton AV

I have Norton and it expired on me a couple of weeks ago, but it still works as "internet security." What free program replaces that aspect of Norton?

Re: Norton AV

The Norton "Internet Security" feature that came with my computer had to be disabled just so I could use this thang, so I don't know what it does. Chief

I think it's supposed to intercept anything coming into your machine, as well as show anyone trying to hack into your machine.

Zone Alarm has a nice free program that offers good protection from intrusions.

Re: Norton AV

Right now I use AVG Free for antivirus and it appears to work, I use Zone Alarm for a firewall and I really like it, I use Ad Aware and Spybot for bug intrusion(I run the Ad Aware at least once a day)and I like that one too, and last but not least CC Cleaner that I run once a month or so. All these are freebies so I imagine the paid versions are really powerful. Chief
I'm out of breath now.

I use the free Avast! Home Edition for virus. I purchased Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic. My firewall is a hardware firewall built into my router.
