Against all "economic common sense," my $40 LArk purchase last year has gotten a "little bit" more expensive. Basically one thing led to another, "good deals" along the way, and a loss of reason has gotten me to this point. Below are some pics of parts, all being NOS, I have acquired over the last year which include:

Block/crankcase
Head
Crank
Pistons & Rings
Wrist Pins & Bearings
Connecting Rods
Rod & Crank bearings
Seals & Gaskets
Other Misc.

Just having too much fun,

Mas

you better shrink those pics
The board nazi's deleted all of mine for being oversize
even though they were 640x480

BTW, very nice

Mas,
Would you mind posting your compression numbers with a reliable gauge when you get the rings seated, just to satisfy my curiousity? Nice crosshatching!

Sure...but the rate I work...it may be a while. There's a lot of painting to do etc., with limited time. This project will probably drag into summer before I can hear her purr!

Excellent. It's a 57 Lark. It's worth spending that kind of money. :D

Isn't this the Lark that you found sitting in a barrel?

yup...it's been a slow process. The biggest issue that I discovered with the "old" block that I didn't like and put me on this latest bend was the P.O. had "ported" the exhaust ports. Since the motor was not running, I did not know how the porting affected the motor and I didn't want to find out after a restoration...so here we are!

"New Old Stock" means the parts are from the original production run, but have never been used.

Yikes- no wonder you replaced the block, the port job don't look too healthy.

I too was expecting busted rings...but they actually looked pretty good...except for several being "stuck." ...Which leads me to a question of "knocking down" the edge of the ports with a file...is this recommended?
