Nose blown of new aftermarket starter 3.0l

Hi all just finished installing an new head on my LX and went to start it and it started nice then stumbled. I went to restart it started and then all of a sudden there was a clatter the engine stops and would not rotate when the key was turned on the ignition giving me very bad worries further inspection lead to me removing the rocker cover only to find all was as it should be.

next I took off the starter only to find the node broke clean off causing the jam.

thank god it wasn’t the engine but what can cause the node to blow off the starter ?

do I get another of the same type or from another brand ? Can’t risk this happening at sea

Pull the plugs and see if there is water in the cylinders

Already done - no water and motor turns now that the starter has been removed. I’m convinced the brioken nose jammed the engine but what caused the nose to break ?

now something else I have to add. I could only get a spark when the jumper on the distributor white wires is connected in order to enter bass timing mode when I disconnect the jumper from those two wires I get no spark could the ignition module be at fault here ?

It was a rebranded part so no idea.
i know that timing is not exact but it ran well enough before this. The starter casing split the whole way down too.

Could very well have happened, but have not found that to have happened before
I would check other connections before going with that

Ok so what I really need to know is if the cause of failure is a chocolate starter or could it be done to backfire / incorrect timing ?

connections are good.
weirdly enough I can’t get it in base timing mode and combine that with no spark unless white distributor leads jumper connected I’m thinking it’s related to the module in the distributor???

Well I spoke to the seller and the brand is a Bosch company - does that imply good quality ?

Bosch is normally a very good part. They are OEM Supplier on many European cars

Well it’s called Cargo and is a Bosch owned company but no Bosch logo and made in China

if its from china, its not Bosch. its China's Zhengzhou mining company illegally still using the Bosch name.

Bosch sold off the starter and alternator division in December of 2017 and they became their own entity on January 1st, 2018 as SEG Automotive
