All you need is the coupler and an alignment tool. Remove drive first, then engine, Lift and move engine forward, remove flywheel bellhousing, replace coupler and reinstall engine and drive.;)

One guy can remove the outdrive, and make sure the shifter is in forward gear when you remove it and reinstall it. Get a mercruiser manual! :D

BTW I heard the Seloc manuals stink! A real Mercruiser manual is the way to go. If your gonna stay boating and keep your boat for awhile it's worth getting the right manual! good luck!:D

Re: NOT a spun hub?

one more quick possibly dumb question. If im looking at the right part here, is this not like a hub on a prop? If so, if the splines are ok, can a prop shop press a new hub on??

Nope, prop shops can't rehub couplers. Props don't have near the close tolerences of a coupler.

Your outdrive only weighs about 80lbs......

Re: NOT a spun hub?

I just bought a brand new alignment tool off ebay for $57 which included shipping. Think the thing weighs about 20 lbs. If your gonna stay into boatin, ya might as well have one. Thinking I might start renting mine out! Pulling the motor isn't as bad as it sounds. Good luck!

Re: NOT a spun hub?

A 2.5 is a GM engine, a 2.3 is a Ford engine, NOT the same and no it won't fit.
And yes, it's going to be hard to find one. OMC (now out of buisness for 10 years) only used the 2.3 for a few years, and the couplers are now listed as NLA (No Longer Available) Be watching ebay, craigslist, and searching the internet. You may find one. I do know the 460 OMC Ford engines had the same problem with couplers. They now go for around 1500 bucks for the few that can be found.

Good Luck.
