Not a Starcraft but another tincan --With Pictures--

Hi guys, I am still here. Sorry for not posting for the long time. For the last month I am dealing with fencing (I have almost 1000 feet to do). So had almost no time to spend working on the boat.

As some of you know I have got the 89 Evinrude 50 hp which was setup as tiller. I have the remote controls for it it is just the matter of adjusting the motor to take them. Said that my yellow SS is sitting in the driveway without the motor (I sold my Farce motor). Hopefully will get to it in September.....

Said that, my wife and I decided that we really got "water fever" and must get something that will take us to the lake immidiatelly.

So on Saturday we picked up the 14 foot aluminum Sears fishing boat with 6 hp Evinrude on the back.

Yesterday I have replaced transom and cleaned it inside. After that we spashed it. Feels so good.......... I am a happy man again!

Quick question - does anyone know what is max hp rating for this boat? (There is no tag, so i do not even know the year )

somewhere there's a USCG formula to determine this. seat o the pants, i'd say you're not likely to sink it or rip the transom off with any motor up to 15-20hp

Post a pic of it. My dad just picked up a 14' Alumacraft which I believe was what many of the Sears boats were so I may be able to help. It's probably 15HP. We run ours with a little Evinrude 4HP Deluxe which is slow but steady and reliable.

Here are some pictures.
It also came with the motor in exact coloring scheme down to cavitation plate

When I took the floor out (PO had a platform in it instead of the middle seat) I found the wasp nest. It is good we had a can to wasp killer, this thing is a magic! One shot and the whole nest is gone in 30 seconds.
I also found some growth under the floor.

I do not have pictures of the current codition but lets just say we pulled the WHOLE bucket of dirt from it.

Nice rig, if you ever need to blend into an orange marsh you are all set

I agree it's probably rated somewhere around 20-30hp. A 10-15hp would be perfect.

Well, not so "unindentified", It has a Sears logo attached to the side.

Well, I kinda like the paint job and looks to be done propely, it does not peel that much

It had the 3/8 thick ply as the transom. It was also not the whole width of the transom, so I made a new one of 2 glued pieces of 1/2 ply. It has also a 1/4 inch stainess steel plate on outside of the transom (the whole width), so now with thick transom it feels like I can put ...... BOTH my 6 hp evinrudes on the back .... only wish I had 3 hands to run them

BTW, that is THE fence on the background that is responsible for taking me away from my boats
