Have you looked at all into ventilating the prop? Supposedly, no first hand experience, ventilating the prop can allow it to spin up faster if you have through hub exhaust, but not have any real detriment at higher speeds. Sounds like your boat has plenty of upped end, but not enough lower end. So maybe this could be a solution. One other idea, again no first hand experience, is to look into the torque shift props, the blades open up in pitch as the RPMs increase.

But to be honest, with a 190hp motor, you can either prop for low end or high end, gonna be tough to get the best of both worlds... The sooner your boat planes, the quicker it will then accelerate, so maybe look into some auto trim tabs for around $150...

Thanks guys...I think I am good for now. With a tune up I'll be even better. I don't think I'll go down the prop venting thing just yet. I'm a new boater and wouldn't be able to measure it appropriately, and wouldn't want to risk damaging the engine, prop or leg in any way.
