i am not getting any spark when I use the electric atsrt in my 88 evinrude 30hp twin. I can disconnect the wiring harness and rope start it and it runs fine but when i try to use the key up at the controls it does not get any spark.. I put in a new ignitioin switch in the controls and it still is not getting any spark. I also checked that one inline fuse near the solenoid but that was fine. Any ideas?

If you have a kill switch at the helm. Unhook the wires to the back of it and re-try. Could be as simple as a bad kill switch.

Did you replace switch with an outboard replacement switch?<br /> When you unplug you take the kill switch out of the circuit.kill switch is open to run closed to stop.

Re: not getting any spark when using electric start

i REPLACED THE OLD SWITCH WITH A NEW EVINRUDE FACTORY REPLACEMENT, AND i DID COMPLETELEY REMOVE THE KILL SWITCH FROM THE CURCUIT. I am not sure if the nutreal switch is working properly but the controller is definetely in nuetral, i cant choke it and give it any throttle, where is the nuetral switch in that rats nest anyway, maybe i could unhook it if I knew which one it is.

If I were you I'd take it to the shop. They get paid for getting YELLED at.
