I took the boat out for the first time this year last week (98 nitro w/ 120 mercury). The motor started right up and would kick into gear. But when I would move the lever to the 9 o'clock position the engine would stay the same speed and wouldn't get up and go. It wouldn't sound like it was trying or anything. It would just continue at the same speed that it hits when you put it into gear and would get any different speeds when moving the lever. Any ideas?
