i have a 1979 Johnson stinger 75hp outboard, it starts fine & using the 50:1 mix ration, my problem is it takes forever to warm up & get moving down the water decently. it will take off & troll with no problem, but will not go too much faster then a high troll at 3/4 throttle. it doesn't seem to have a skip to it or run rough & you can tell it wants to get moving but it seems to have a restriction in it. If i put it in Neutral & raise up & down on the throttle lever it does fine, but as soon as you put it in gear/unload it sounds like it bogs down & has to work/struggle to get up to a high troll maybe 5-10 mph & that is at 3/4 & full throttle. yes I have gone thru the 3 carbs & they are all clear & clean & so is fuel filter & new plugs. Please somebody help me with this problem,, getting frustrated here

Re: not getting up to full speed

You might want to post in the Johnson Evinrude section. I had a similiar problem last year and it ended up being the bushing for the timer base advance.

It's in the left side of this picture. It fits inside the half moon. I replaced mine with a brass one as you can see in the picture. Not sure if you have the same design or not but that's what fixed mine.
