My comment about idling is need to see what it looks like when the pinging start. Slow down quickly and pull some plugs. If they are white your running to lean or timing (your timing checks out). If it idles a bit or as when cold, it will change the color

I went out yesterday with 93 octane and ran 27 miles, big improvement but still a little occasional pinging. Able to avoid the pinging prior to getting on plane by reving the engine out of gear before starting out.

May be running lean and causing the pinging because of my new fuel line and fuel filter set up. The filter doesn't seem to fill up unless I've been moving for awhile and the bends in the line could be restrictive. See pictures.

What do you think?

Being there for just testing purposes

The filter will never fill up because there is no pressure and the pump just needs to suck fuel. If the fuel is high enough so it covers the outlet, then no more air needs to come out. Could get it more full if the outlet was facing up more
