i reset the idle rich lean screw to 1-1/2 turns from the bottom , and set the speed rich lean lever to just off left of center. it turned over chugged a bit and then stopped and would not turn over at all. i still had power the eletric choke would shut/open. any ideas?

I have a couple of those, myself. Good reliable motors, once tuned right.

a couple! no way! a '58 35 hp is my dream vintage motor, and a nice late model Yammy, or ETEC 40 hp tiller would be a "new" motor I'd like to try one day too. I've never actually owned one, but I've heard good things about them even if they are all high tech and Darth Vadery.

What does "not turn over at all" mean? Did the starter quit working? Did the motor just lock up and the flywheel won't turn at all by hand?
