We finally got the motor running, and I think she runs beautifully.. She is pulling at 32.5 MPS at WOT with 2 heavy people on board... Is this about normal... I feel it is, but just want to verify. ( I dont have a Tachometer yet, so I dont know the rpms)

The steering is REALLY stiff... There looks to be no lube on the bar under the motor.. Is there a way to loosen up the steering? It steers like it should, just really stiff.

There is also a knob under the steering wheel, what does this do?

Sorry for all the questions, but im excited to get all the small stuff together now that I got the motor running smoothly

32 mph on a 16' Capri is a little slow.

32 mph on a 17.5 or 18' capri is about right.

THere should be a grease fitting on the tilt tube, starboard side.
Apply a little grease, work the steering wheel back and forth.
Repeat, repeat repeat.

If the fitting won't take grease, it may need a little PB Blaster and heat to loosen it up.
Or you may need to disconnect the steering cable and remove it from the tilt tube.
Clean out the tilt tube, lube the steering rod, re-assemble.

knob under the steering wheel? ??

Thanks roscoe..

Does it matter what grease I use for it??

Cleaning out the tilt tube might need a little more help regarding that if it comes to it.. Im gonna try greasing it first

There is a bolt/knob on the bottom of the steering wheel that I can tighten and loosen, although I have no idea what it does.. I will take a picture of it when I get a chance... It is on the bottom of the wheel right before it goes into the cabinet

The knob under the steering wheel should be a friction adjustment, loose easier to turn.
