Why in the world after saying they were dems. would they then say they are Repubs...

Most of us have learned to take what certain members post in Dockside Chat with a grain of salt…(wink wink). It is entirely possible the event mentioned in the original post never really happened. Not surprised the claim came from a Democrat, claiming he will never vote Republican again (wink wink).

I believe it cause we got a call from the same party 4 times in one day. I will not say what party but I will not vote for them for sure, and I think they are all crooked to a point.

Funny you said that Rabbit, I was thinking also....why would a republican call a voter claiming to be a democrat, try to get a voter pissed at there own party?....Rolmops, You might want to edit your post a bit to make it more palatable.

Democrat or Republican, I just hang up. I never answer any questions to would be pollsters..I'd rather answer at the ballet. Can anyone say caller ID?

I read it. Still sounds fishy. In the last election the dems pulled some sort of phone spam call campaine on the elderly of some sort. Maybe the libs are just accusing the repubs up front this go around. Again, I dont take calls from strangers. Even if they state their repubs up front. Sorry you were woken and worried about your daughter Rolmops. But in the end, whoever it was that called you, altered your judgement as you stated. YOU will never vote for a republican again because of a phone call from a complete stranger. How old are you?

Can me and Peel Poor be in charge of hiring the interns? See the HOTD thread for our qualifications.

Seriously, I am puzzled why repubs continue to struggle for Jewish support, when it is they who staunchly stand in defense of Israel.

The American jewish community is very much energized through something called mitzvah. The translation of this word is roughly :trying to make the world a better place for everybody by donating time, energy and money for the needy. You might call it social conscience. It seems that this need is better expressed through the democratic party. On the other hand the community greatly appreciates the republican and especially the evangelical support for Israel.
So go figure.
The only answer that I have come up with so far is that the American jewish community is American first and jewish second.

Voting for one side or the other just because they use the name democrat or republican is stupid and nothing else.

Actually, it is the only way to make your vote really count . . . ;)

Count for what?
Your brand or his brand, don't discount mine.
It's just that kind of attitude that got us into the current mess and it's the same attitude that will keep us from getting out of it.

I disagree Skinny. Primaries are where you do the weeding out . . . Unless you think there is no difference between the parties. I happen to think they are very different. Neither is what I would call good. There is the stupid party and the dangerous party. I prefer the stupid one.

Not sure what your brand comment meant.

BTW, I also prefer gridlock so I am not 100% consistent with this. I could argue that voting party line increases the potential for gridlock. The basic definition of conservative is leave it alone. Gridlock leaves it alone.

Gridlock is good. We're going to see plenty of it now.

The basic definition of conservative is leave it alone.
It means to leave alone what was originally given or made into law. Not to leave alone what has been corrupted.
Primaries are where you do the weeding out
Primarys are for the two partys.

Gridlock is for the statis-quo. It's a tool for the statis- quo, and it is encouraged for those that enjoy the statis-quo.
I'm sick of the statis-quo. I'm sick of dumb and dumber.

We can stay with statis-quo or surrender to socialism, or we could make long lasting changes by the people pushing a third party agenda.
That's the three brands I was talking about.

Re: Now they got my attention.

Skinnywater,

Yes, conservative means leave alone what was originally intended, getting further away is baaaaaaaadd too. That is why I like gridlock, harder to keep slipping.

While we have two Parties in power the primary is where the work is done. Then it's party line . . . BTW, I am registered undeclared as I originally believed that a two party system prevented true compromise. That may be true, but then I grew up . . . ;) I considered Libertarian except that I do not believe business always does the right thing, and I am no isolationist. I support almost all business friendly policies, and reject almost all business is evil stuff. Business is business . . .

I definitely prefer the status-quo to Socialism. Without a strong Republican or other strong non-Democrat party we may sink to Socialism, so I am kinda nervous :%

Describe/define your third party.

Re: Now they got my attention.

I am an American Independent.
I agree 100% with Rep. Ron Paul of Texas. Type him in your search engine.
Barry Goldwater and William F. Buckley nearly get it, while Pat Buchanan generally has my support.

I prefer isolationism over UN participation, imperialism and what we have now.
I prefer being true to the Constitution and the founders original intent over being the world's police.

Neither political party comes very close to what was intended. So both are very liberal and abstract in almost every way.

Why aren't you and Paul Libertarian's? Seems consistent . . .
