Boat ran fine the first time out,GPS: 40MPH+ Tach: RPMs 5000+, changed lower unit oil next day. Only ran it at over 40 for a few seconds pretty scary in a 15ft boat with chop.

Second time out could not break 3000-3500 rpm, dont remember exact RPM and also top end maxed out at only 19mph. Most likly one cylinder is not working. I will have at it tomorrow I am pretty good with engines, will narrow the problem down fast hopefully.

This is my first Nissan, are there any special things with these motors that could cause this? Limiters? Known common problems etc, etc.

Motor is a 2 stroke NS90A 1997.

Thanks all..

Re: NS90A no power..

Checked compression today, all holes 120psi on the dot almost. Plugs dirty, changed em all, spark jumping 1/2" gap, dont look to fat tho. Was hard to see the spark in full sun and it looked a lil on the weak side. Also throttle control does push carb linkages to max positions.

Boat is on land so I did not get a test run in. Next time I go fishing will be when I test her out. I am guessing it will run fine the next time out the plugs were kinda fouled along with a weak spark. I will look into the spark issue later if this happens again also the oil injection system might be over doing it a little and causing fouled plugs.

If someone could answer my other post on where the best place to buy a factory manual online that would be great.

Thanks for reading : ).

She ran fine this time out, just fouled plugs, replacements fixed it. Will report back if they re-foul.

Re: NS90A no power..

I'm having a plug fouling problem with a 92 ns90a. Any hints on how to correct this issue?

Re: NS90A no power..

That can be caused by almost anything...Replace the plug first and try it. After that it's time for a service manual and then you start with either the fuel or ignition system.
