Hope @dingbat is available
Boat has 2 NSS7 evo3 displays, with inland charts and thru hull transducer

Shows can install a radar and auto pilot but doesn't mention if it does side scan so guessing it doesn't. More interested in side scan and have not use for AP, radar might be a thought

Any thoughts on options?

Just noticed on FB that a guy has a new G09 XSE, looks nice

Typical MFD… basic map and sounder functions (no side scan) with HMI support for a number of optional ($$$) modules.

From the option stand point, both side scan and radar are highly visualized applications. You need a display large enough to present data on a scale that the user can easily identify targets

I run sonar (chirp/side scan) and chartplotter (map/radar) on separate, but dedicated 9” displays. In both cases, the scaling of the objects and fonts is restricting readability of the data.

Sure, you can zoom in and out to look at things but that’s a distraction that gets old after a while

AP- I run distance and troll. Never own a boat w/o it.

Radar -least used equipment on the boat. Great for weather watching/dodging when the horizon is visible. Must have if you run at night or in the fog

Side Scan - could live w/o primarily because of the scaling (display) issues.

Once you condense an 35’ x 160’ scan area down to fit on a 9” (4.5” x 8”) display, targets need to be huge to be visible. Much prefer “real” CHIRP for hunting fish

The upside, make cool pictures to put on the internet in shallow water.
